Meet Jennifer Pilz, MPT, CMC, and ALCA New England Chapter Vice President

March 13, 2023   |   Board/Committee Member Spotlight

Where do you practice, Jennifer?

I practice North of Boston, Southern New Hampshire, and the New Hampshire Seacoast.

How long have you been an ALCA member?

I have been an ALCA member since 2012.  I first became involved in the programming  committee in 2018.  I spent 2019-2022 as the programming co-chair and the chair adding a third year due to the Covid pandemic.  I am currently in my second year as the Vice President.

Tell us about your experience as a Board/Committee member?

I became involved in ALCA on the committee level first to get a feel for what it was like.  Seeing my practice is an hour north of Boston, being on the committee allowed me to get to know other members I had never met before.  I also enjoyed planning for speakers that could talk about some of the topics I thought would help enhance my practice and in turn help other members in theirs.  Throughout my years on the Board, I have truly enjoyed getting to know the volunteers that dedicate their time and energy to making the ALCA New England chapter a welcoming environment for its members.  Having my voice be a part of the important decisions that have to be made on a regular basis when representing our chapter has helped me grow as a professional business owner and care manager.

As one of our own advanced fellows would remind us at Board meetings, “You get back so much more than the time you put in”.  I agree with that wholeheartedly.

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time, I am continuing to raise my four children although I have launched my eldest child off to college in 2021!  I still have a junior in high school and twin 7th graders at home.  I spend a lot of my spare time at their sporting events.  Outside of work and children, I have a passion for running and fitness which provide a much-needed outlet for stress relief.  I love podcasts (and recently discovered Blinkist thanks to the ALCA President’s retreat in January), but need a fiction book before bed when it’s time to stop thinking about all the problems facing the population that we serve.
