Meet Shelley Silverman, BS, RNC, CDP, HN-BC, NHA and new ALCA New England Chapter Member

April 17, 2023   |   New Member Spotlight

Where do you practice, Shelley?

I am new to Aging Life Care and am beginning my independent practice in the Merrimack Valley area in Massachusetts.

What led you to the profession of Aging Life Care?

I have been working with seniors for over 30 years as an RN certified in gerontological nursing, holistic nursing and certified dementia practitioner.  I was a Director of Nurses for 12 years in Long Term Care, and a Nursing Home Administrator for another 14 years.  My combined experiences as part of an interdisciplinary team working on safe discharges to home for elders, decreasing re-hospitalizations, and developing person-centered enrichment programs, all bring me to a time in my life that I can assist families and elders with their challenges and transitions.

Do you have an area of expertise or specialty?

I have actively worked in Assisted Living, Residential Care (Rest Homes), Skilled Nursing and Short Term Rehab, as well as Senior Centers for the Deaf.  I have been part of the Long Term Care Committee with Care Dimensions Hospice as a D.O.N. and collaborated with community programs.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy spending time with friends and family and participating in my grandchildren’s lives.  Hiking and cycling on the many Massachusetts trails in the good weather, too!
