Meet Josh Obeiter, Owner at Seniors Helping Seniors and Corporate Partner

May 30, 2023   |   Corporate Partner Spotlight

What is your company and role, Josh?

I am the Executive Director and Owner of Seniors Helping Seniors, Serving Greater Boston and MetroWest.  Seniors Helping Seniors is a Bronze Corporate Partner of ALCA.

What services do you provide that would be helpful for care managers and their clients to be aware of?

We are a non-medical home care agency that exclusively employs older adults as our caregivers.  We can help with any shift from 2-24 hours per day, and focus on making best fit caregiver/client matches based on mutual interests and shared backgrounds. Dementia care and respite care are our two most common services.

Why did you get into this business and what separates you from others in the field ?

I have a true passion for working with seniors and began volunteering in nursing homes when I was in middle school. I’ve always felt that seniors were an overlooked, yet incredibly valuable part of our society.  Through my experiences volunteering with seniors, I often saw the gap of care and what many seniors needed.  A trusted confidant, someone to engage with and connect with meaningfully, but also receive some assistance from.  Our model bridges the gap between a friendly volunteer and a paid caregiver.  Our caregivers are older, more mature and can more naturally connect with the clients that they are supporting, and often help ease the transition into getting help from a caregiver with less resistance from the client and more peace of mind from the family.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Travel, exercise, sing in a intergenerational chorus, spending time with my dog, attending concerts
