Where do you practice, Susan?

My office is located at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, and we cover the entire Worcester County area.

Tell us about your involvement and experience with ALCA.

I have been a member of ALCA since 2010 and I have been an active member since then. I have attended regional conferences and have also taken advantage of tools such as the List Serve and educational material available on the ALCA website.

What led you to the profession of Aging Life Care?

I am an occupational therapist, and I was working with Debbie Fins, a long-standing member of ALCA. She encouraged me to morph my skills into becoming a life care professional, and it’s one of the best decisions I ever made. Debbie was a wonderful mentor.

What resources or services do you frequently recommend to your clients to help them navigate the aging process more effectively?

I refer people often to elder law attorneys, medical professionals, housing resources (options) and often act as an advocate.

What is one piece of advice you can offer to those new to Aging Life Care?

Become a part of a peer support group and take advantage of networking with other life care professionals.

Tell us something you enjoy doing in your free time:

I enjoy reading and exercising, but most of all I enjoy spending time with my family, particularly my granddaughters!
